The other day I wondered, "Is Eliza's hair long enough to be put into pigtails?"

So I tried it, had to distract her to hold still (trust me not an easy thing to get a 1 1/2 yr. old to hold still long enough to part their hair!). She looked so cute!

Getting the book and finishing it!

I had so much fun getting the Harry Potter book the other night. We had to go on Friday at 4p.m. and get braclets, and those bracelets had a letter on them and that determined how soon you got your book. Thankfully we were in the A's so we go to get ours before everyone else! I wonder how long it took them to get through them all. Then I went to the mall around 10p.m. with some friends to the Barnes and Noble which is part of a mall, and they had a Harry Potter scavengar hunt through the mall where they had different Harry Potter related items hung in obscure places that you wouldnt' have noticed. They also had characters from the book you could have your picture taken with, face painting, a sorting hat to be sorted into your houses, and a Harry Potter trivia game. They also had a costume contest and my friend Jenn's daughter Shelby won 1st prize (as Luna Lovegood) and Savannah(went as Tonks) got 3rd. Josh met up with me after our friends that watched the kids got there and hung out with us. Jenn's Mother-in-law Kit was there too as Rita Skeeter, she looked fabulous! They also handed out fun Harry Potter type glasses which Maddie really wanted me to take a picture of her in! Josh and I read the majority of the book together (as we did with most of the other books the first time we read them) so it took us longer to read. We did end up finishing the book seperately yesterday (Sunday) since we read all day Saturday and we didn't think the kids would go for it anymore! So we're both done with the book, and both of us thought it was a great ending to the series!

Countdown to book 7....

I have seriously been avoiding reading anything on-line about the Harry Potter book because of all the leaks about the book. I want to read it myself, I don't want anyone else to spoil it for me. I can hardly wait to open it up and begin the final book. It's exciting, but sad that it has to come to an end. These books have sucked me in. I even had a dream about being a witch last night, but for some reason my wand was plastic! lol! And I couldn't remember any spells when one of the bad death eaters was after me!
Tonight we have some friends from church (who don't have kids) coming to hang out while Josh and I go out with some other friends to Barnes and Noble to get the book. I'm definately going to need to take a nap this afternoon if I'm going to make it to midnight!

Celebrating birthdays

Last night I got a much needed break since Josh has been out of town since Monday to go out with some of my girlfriends to dinner at Panera to celebrate our friend Jenna's 29th Birthday. Out of our group there last night she was the youngest, and I'm the second youngest. That was fun to rub that in to the others in our group! Who do you think looks oldest??? After dinner then we drove down the street to the Bakers Crust for their wonderful Crepes! The one Nicole and I shared was one that was filled with chocolate moose (sp.???) and strawberries and had a vanilla and chocolate syrup on the side with a side of whipped cream. It is the best dessert I think I've ever had, it is so good!

Harry Potter Movie and 1st visit to the doctor for me..

Last night I was insane enough to go see the midnight show of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. It was a good movie, although I doubt I'll ever be impressed with any of the movies since they aren't as good as the book. But what movie ever is?? Name one for me!? You can't, so don't even try!
Anyway, I went with my friend Jenn and her oldest two girls, and her mother-in-law met up with us along with her nephew who is visiting.
We went to Coldstone to get some sugar in us before the movie (it was definately needed!) I did consider buying one of those mountain dew freeze things they have, but decided not to.
Today I had my first OB visit for the pregnancy. Had the usual talk about my personal history, about past pregnancy's and deliveries, talked about how I'm feeling. And so far mostly I'm feeling tired, nauseous (at times, but not nearly as bad as I was with Eliza), but mostly the same. They did do an ultrasound, only one baby! At least as of today! The doctor seemed pretty sure at least! It was very cool to see (though too early yet to hear it) the heart beating. Seeing the tiny little blob and seeing the area of the chest with the tiny little hear beating, it's always exciting, even the 4th time around. So I'm 8 weeks and 2 days I guess. My due date is Feb.20th but we'll see if I actually make it there as I have yet to get to a due date!

4th of July and weights and measurements....

Our 4th of July was pretty fun. The kids and I went to the beach with some of my girlfriends. Josh isn't much of a beach guy so he stayed home and looked at his new car for awhile. (ha ha just kidding, he actually took the little racing stripe the dealership had on it off because he didn't like it)

Thankfully he didn't mind coming to the beach to pick up Eliza. She just wasn't having much fun, and I knew it was because she was tired. Sure enough after Josh got her home and cleaned off from the sand and salt water she slept from 1-4:45p.m.! Yep she as one tired little girl. I didn't mind she slept that long so then she'd be happy for the fireworks. We got together with the same friends we went to the beach with for a a barbeque and then left to watch the fireworks in downtown Norfolk. Jonas and Maddie plugged their ears the entire time (as you can see from the photos!), but Eliza just sat there and enjoyed it. It was funny to watch their different reactions.

Thursday Jonas and Eliza had their well check-ups at the doctor. Jonas is now 45 1/2 inches tall and 41 lbs.

And Eliza is 24lbs. 14oz. and 31 1/2 inches tall. Maddie had her doctors appointment yesterday and she weighs 38lbs. and is 42 inches tall. Apparently Maddie is in the 75th percentile for her age for her height! Wonder where she gets that from???

quick update

Last week was the start of swim classes for Jonas and Maddie every morning M-Thurs. It will be all done on Thursday, so our mornings will once again be free. Jonas hasn't really "loved" swim class as much as I thought he would. He eventually gets into it, but it takes him awhile. Maddie on the other hand is a fish! She loves going to swim class, and is having a blast. Eliza just gets mad because she can't get in the water!
We've also been busy taking trips to Busch Gardens, and Watercountry USA. In fact if all goes as planned we will be heading to Watercountry today.
Josh has been away for work. Last week it was San Diego, then he left Sunday morning for Jacksonville, FL. He returned home last night and thankfully won't have to go on any trips for a few weeks. That's it for now. I'll try and post some pictures later.

Josh's other woman

Yes it's true, a new woman has come into my husbands life, she's got a hot younger body, and moves very FAST!
She's a 2006 Pontiac GTO. She's Josh's dream car. After MANY years of our trusty Berretta, Josh decided that the stars were aligned and the budget could handle another car payment. I also think the guys at work had given him a tough time for driving a car that had no a/c, the upholstery in the thing is shot, the fabric on the ceiling inside the car is falling down, and it smells funny. (not making that up trust me!)
When talking about getting a new car I said jokingly: "Honey, are you going to love the new car more than me?" Josh: No, because I married you, otherwise I would've gone ahead with my 5 year plan (which included the car)!
Anyway, he was very sweet and let me drive it off the lot, it's so much fun to drive a manual car, and it really does go VERY fast! Jonas and Maddie love riding in it too! Oh and the other good part is it has A/C of course, which will help when it gets up in the 90's next week!

Hail and Farewell

In Aviation, at least for the Navy (don't know about other military branches) when you join a squadron you are "Hailed" or welcomed, and when you leave you are "Farewelled".
Saturday night we attended our last official function in HSC-28. It was a prorgressive dinner and then a Hail and Farewell. Although we're not really leaving the area, Josh is no longer in the squadron. It was a fun night, and a little bittersweet as well. There were so many new people, that all of the old folks sort of stuck together for awhile it seemed, although by the end of the evening I know I'd met some of the new people on my own. The first picture is of Josh and I with the CO and the next picture is with our friends the Williams. Ted and Tricia.
It's hard to believe that Josh's 3 years of being in the squadron are now officially over. Even though he'd begun his new job, it honestly didn't seem real yet.
I hope that someday he'll go back to another squadron and there will be as many fun people as there were in this squadron.

my Scrap room....

I've had my own scrapbook area for years now. In fact it was a pre-requisite for our home, I HAD to have a place I could stamp/scrapbook. I had it up in the attic for several years. As we had all our new drywall put in, of course I had to pack EVERYTHING up and it got moved around a lot. Then when Eliza was ready to be in her own room, we decided that the girls should share a room, so they would need the bigger room, and we decided to have Jonas sleep in the extra room upstairs in the attic across from the loft room/scrapbook room. Well I got the brilliant idea that the little room that was once the "nursery" should be my stamp room because it has a door I can shut and keep little ones out of my stuff. It's a little cramped, and not even considered a bedroom because it is so small, but it's great. It was pink and yellow, and I decided to repaint it, even when we didn't know if we were moving or not, I knew I needed a different color. Then today we got another computer, because the old one wasn't cutting it, although I now have the old one in my scrapbook room because it will cut it enough for what I do with it. (blog, surf the internet, check-mail, order pictures, etc.) I will post pictures later as I need to find our power strip to plug in all these different things and only have one plug in my entire room! lol! (you'll see how small it is when I post the pictures later!)

Pretty Princess

This is for Grandma's, Aunts, Uncles, and anyone else. Eliza was being so cute the other day wearing one of Maddie's many tiaras, and of course I had to share!

Reconnecting....

I've officially been graduated from good old Paul Harding H.S. for 10 years tomorrow (which is very soon by my watch). Where did 10 years go? I will have to post some pictures of me from High School, honestly I look the same except I look much more rested in high school, but my hair looks much better now than it did then. (a trade off I guess!)
As I've reflected upon my 10 years out of High School I realize I'm where I expected to be at this age. A mother, and a wife. I didn't expect to be a Military spouse, and live in all the places we've lived, but that's just made life that much more exciting!
In High School I was in Marching Band (yes start all the names, band geek, band fag, etc.) and as I reflect on those years of High School, those were some of the best moments of my High School years. I realized that those people in band were the one's I wanted to see the most, reconnect and spend time with them. So I decided to find out if anyone else felt the same way, and found out I'm not the only one! So I have begun plans to start a reunion for us Band Folks. It has been awesome talking to people I haven't spoken to in a long time, and hope that by getting us all together everyone else will feel the same way, and glad we got together. It's going to be a lot of work, but I know it will be worth it. (and thankfully I know there are other willing friends out there ready to help me!)

Happy 4th Birthday Maddie Mae!

Today is my Maddie's 4th Birthday. It's amazing how fast these four years went by! While pregnant with Maddie I decided not to find out if we were having a boy or girl, but I was so sure I was having another boy. Only once at the VERY beginning did I think I was having a girl. So when Maddie finally made her way into the world, Josh said, "it's a girl Honey!" I was shocked to say the least, but it only took me a few minutes to get over and realize, I get to shop for all those cute little girl outfits, dress her in pretty pink dresses, and play dolls! I was so excited! Maddie truly adds lots of sugar and spice and everything nice to our lives. She's such a sweet little girl, and such a good example to her brother and sister. We love her so much and have felt very blessed to be entrusted with this sweet little girl!
So now it's official... Happy 4th Birthday Maddie Mae!

2 more years

It's official.. we will be in Norfolk, VA for another two years. Yep, you read that right. Josh found out on Thursday (and yes I kept forgetting to write about it on my blog, ooops!). He will be an Admirals Aid. Sounds pretty official doesn't it? But so far it sounds more like an errand boy/servant/slave. Hopefully it won't be that bad, the boss sounds like an okay guy so far, but I don't have to work for him! lol! We're just happy to be able to enjoy our home for another two years. It felt much more official today after I had Josh hang a new shelf on the wall in my scrapbook room, and we got all of our stuff out of storage on Friday. Now I'm planning to do a yard sale in a few weeks with my friend Jenn cause I realized that some of that stuff I put in storage, really, I don't need. Funny how that works!

Watercountry time...

Yesterday it got hot so we decided to take a trip to Watercountry USA. It was our first time this year of going back, and boy what a difference a year makes! Jonas and Maddie were both willing to go on waterslides and the floating river (called Hubba Hubba Highway) that we could not get them to go on last year. Eliza was the only one not too excited about the waterslides. We went on the family ones so we could all sit in a giant intertube together. We played a lot in the section called H2O UFO and Cowabunga, which has a little waterslide for the kids. Maddie went down all by herself, but I didn't get a picture of it I only got a picture of her and Josh on it! On our way home all 3 of the kids were worn out! It was a nice quiet 45 minute drive home. It was a lot of fun, and I'm really glad we went. I also got a nice sun tan (and a little burn too!). Hope you are all enjoying your Memorial Day weekend too! I think tomorrow we'll try and go see a movie!

Preschool Picnic

I promise this is the last post about Preschool for the week! Today was our last day of preschool, which is the annual end of he year picnic at the park. The kids had a lot of fun, and the two hours we were there went really fast! I was amazed when noon rolled around. Jonas was given a special notebook with some of his work from the school year, it's really cute. Maddie was all about taking pictures with her friends. Here is her and her friend Erin, then the other picture is Maddie, Ava, and Lexy. They will all be in Pre-K with her next year! Eliza decided to start throwing the dirt all over and was covered in pine needles and dirt! I guess it's okay, it means she was having fun.
Speaking of Eliza yesterday I told her it was time to go lay down for her nap and she climbed up in the crib (with assistance from the toddler bed next to hers) and got in and fell right to sleep! Then she climbed out all by herself too! I was not expecting that at all! The little boy in the picture with Jonas is a boy named Connor. Funny thing was almost the entire year Jonas said Connor wasn't his friend, then a few weeks ago, he told me they were, and Connor told his mom the same thing, and now they are friends. We thought it was too funny!

Goodbye Pre-K

Today was Jonas' last official day in the Pre-K class. This is his teacher Mrs. Skees. She is such a wonderful teacher. Jonas really learned so much from her, and for that I'm so grateful. She's so caring and kind, and has great patience, which is really needed I'm sure! Jonas has really enjoyed being in Pre-K. I know he's ready for Kindergarden, if you would've asked me if he was ready last fall I would have said, no. What a difference these past 9 months have made for Jonas. It's so exciting to watch him grow, and learn. I cherish everything he writes his name on, even if the letters are really big or really small I love it all! Jonas you've come a long way since last fall, I'm so proud of you buddy!

Last day of 3 day 3 year old class

Today was Maddie's last day in the 3 Day, 3 year old class. They gave each one of the kids a scrapbook with pictures of different things they did over the year. It's super cute! (in the pictue Mrs.Warren on the left, Maddie, and Mrs. Pierce on the right)

Each child also got a little graduation hat and a sash with their name on it. Then they sang us a couple of songs: Little bunny foo foo, and Baby Bumble bee, both of which are hilarious songs to see 3 year olds sing. Sorry if you don't know the songs, they would take way too long to type up, and they have hand motions! I forgot my camera (can you believe that!) but thankfully the Mom sitting next to me offered to take a picture for me and e-mailed it to me today! Then we had a pizza party. It was lots of fun. Maddie is very excited about being in Pre-K, so excited that that I don't think she's sad that this year is over! I'm now trying to plan out our summer to keep us busy. One thing we'll definately be doing this year will be swimming classes for Jonas and Maddie, and it will be two weeks long in the mornng, so it will keep us busy for sure! Unfortunately it's not until the end of June, so we'll be making lots of trips to the parks and beaches, and of course Busch Gardens AND Watercountry USA!
